To all of you who wanted Travis off of the air. Thanks we are now stuck with this crappy National show in the AM. Why did Journal make this decision at this time of year when we have plenty to talk about locally? I think the experiment is over and Journal needs to get a local guy back in the AM!

It was worth adding Trav to Matt's show. Now I can actually sit thru some of Matt's show because someone is going to tell him how wrong he is and Matt can't hang up on him.

On the other hand, Fox's morning programming sucks, so I'll agree, a local morning show is needed.

They do have the habit of leaving the other's annoying tendencies.
It was funny to listen to Trav calmly say it wasn't a big deal that Nebraska's basketball team has a game at Qwest while Matt was going apoplectic.

"Perhaps the worst thing that can happen is to reach into the refrigerator and come out with something that you cannot identify at all. You literally do not know what it is. Could be meat, could be cake. Usually, at a time like that, I'll bluff. "Honey, is this good?" "Well, what is it?" "I don't know. I've never seen anything like it. It looks like...meatcake!" "Well, smell it." (snort, sniff) "It has absolutely no smell whatsoever!" "It's good! Put it back! Somebody is saving it. It'll turn up in something." Thats what frightens me. That someone will consider it a challenge and use it just because it's in there." -- George Carlin

I agree with Trav 100% on that subject.

Personally, I find Matt to be, I guess immature is the best way to describe it.

Maybe its his childish antics? He sounds like he knows quite a bit about sports - I'll give him that. He obviously does his research for the show each day. However, he cannot hold a conversation with a caller who challenges him to think beyond his already preformed opinions. He doesn't have the ability to concede the point to someone and has to have the last word - thus his judicious use of the disconnect button.

I'm not even going to mention his inability to discuss something on a message board such as this one. I guess the best examples of his maturity level would be buried somewhere on the Creighton message board. At one point he stormed off the board in a 'I'm taking my ball and going home' kind of d!ckhead move. He forgot that it wasn't his ball and it wasn't his board to moderate though. (I'd post links/quotes but unfortunately of his 622 posts there, only 2 are visible under his profile. This isn't true for any other poster I've looked at there, so I have to assume either he went through and deleted all his old posts or someone there - a mod or some such - hid them for him.) Luckily, Google has a backup cache of one thread in particular: http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache:Cy6RElK0VCkJ:www.thebluejaycafe.com/BB/viewtopic.php%3Fp%3D85207%26highlight%3D%26sid%3De3f24acb1573cd8c2e9b3891d0105daa+sportstalkmatt&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=6&gl=us&client=firefox-a

It starts like any Perrault thread - Matt pimping the show to Creighton fan. Creighton fan comes back with 'will we hear from any former girlfriends?' and Matt replies

what happened to us is not something I'm going to talk about. What happened on TnT was a case of a stupid exboyfriend trying to vent frustration over a 3.5 year relationship.

Please, can you take that down or I'm not going to be able to come back on here....

I've been good to you guys....is it crazy to ask for compassion?

'Please, can you take that down or I'm not going to be able to come back on here...' Aww...poor Matt. K! Bye!

See the level of maturity? That's why I'm glad Trav has been added to the show. He's someone who has been around the area a long time, has opinions and can back them up without hanging up on the caller 90% of the time.

It's funny watching him beg when he doesn't have Nazi reign over a board.

Here's another fun read about Matt and his itchy 'post and then edit' finger.

This proves one criticism I've had for a long time...he needs to think before he speaks.

One more and then I'm done with this subject. This one is pretty comprehensive - lots of quotes from Matty.

All perfect examples of why I couldn't listen to the big show prior to Trav coming on board.

It scares me that the Uranus poster may actually have a personal picture on there.

Lessons Learned....
Friends of mine often ask me why I bothered to go on message boards. My girlfriend screams at me to stop because she would read what people who write. They asked how I could handle people writing those awful things about me and having people start arguments that were off the wall. For the most part, I really had fun with it. But some where along the way - it turned negative. The promotional benefit got outweighed by faceless wannabes who are frustrated and bitter.

I have to admit that I am a bit fried right now and some of the reaction that I'm going through is because of that. My reputation is the most important thing to me. I try to see 90% of the things that appear on the net about me. Some have told me that it's unhealthy but I look at is as part of my job. All you have is your name.

The reason why I went on boards was to promote the show. To me, it was a great way to let people know what we were doing. As a new program to Omaha and someone not from here, I felt like I needed any exposure that I could get. All pub is good pub in my opinion. Yet, tonight it all bubbled over me for me. The inevitable caught up with me.

The show just had the best ratings book ever. I wish I could write on here and tell you guys how good we did but I can't legally. Arbitron doesn't allow you quote their numbers publicly on forums like this. Just know that the battle for Omaha is almost won for Big Sports 590. If you are under the age of 44, you already know which show in the afternoon has more juice. Our audience in Lincoln, Souix City, Des Moines etc grows every day....only a matter of time before we win Omaha completely - then it's onto the other markets.

So if the idea was to grow the show and it has grown - then why continue to go on boards? Well, I decided to keep doing what we were doing because it was working. But then I went too far. I did something that I said I wasn't going to do - I got into arguments with anonymous writers...they got to me. I allowed myself to get upset about certain things that were said and frustrated by ridiculous comments by people. Heck, it was 900 on 1...but I stood up to fight back....BIG MISTAKE. All it did was piss me off...arguing with wanna be talk show hosts was my fault. I forget how many people think what I do is simple.

I'm 29....only 2 years in Omaha. I learned my lesson. I will continue to update the blog for interviews and things that will be happening with the show. But as far as Husker and Jays message boards - I'm banning myself. It's for the best.

My fault. This will be on the only place that I write on from now on. So bookmark the page and listen to the show...thanks for reading this.

I will say you have to cut Matty a little slack. Look at some of the reactionary tendancies on here when one gets berated.

But, as the saying goes.....If you can't stand the heat?

Adolph can dish it - but in grand "Blue Blood" Style, he can't take it. No one asked him to come here, Fatboy never did and is probably better off as a result. Hell, he lost his show.

So what will it take to get Matt off the air and have Travis take over?
I've listened to Matt since he got to Omaha and not only did I laugh out loud when he drove his car into the parking column, but I've also laughed out loud when he has been wrong about anything and tried to explain that no matter how wrong he was, he was right.
Lets send this supperating sack of herpetic lesions back to the Least Coast where it belongs.
